Finnish brothers and their comrades fight against overwhelming Soviet forces to defend their homeland in the brutal Winter War of 1939–1940
In late 1939, Stalin orders an invasion of Finland. Reservists from Kauhava, including farmer brothers Martti and Paavo Hakala, are called to defend their homeland. They are sent to the Karelian Isthmus where they face brutal battles against overwhelming Soviet forces along the Taipale and Vuoksi rivers. Amid relentless attacks, loss, and sacrifice, the Finnish soldiers fight fiercely to protect their country until the March 1940 ceasefire ends the conflict.
