Beloved Italian actress Valeria Golino has starred in both English-language movies and Italian movies throughout her career. She starred in “Rain Man” (1988) opposite Tom Cruise, in the comedy sequel “Big Top Pee-wee” (1988), and in the Sean Penn movie “The Indian Runner” (1991). While living in Los Angeles, she also appeared in the films “Leaving Las Vegas” (1995) and “Escape from L.A.” (1996), directed by John Carpenter. Golino returned to Italy in 2000 and began appearing in a wider variety of movies, including “Frida” (2002), the French crime drama “36, Quai des Orfevres” (2004), and “Actrices,” directed by Valeria Bruni Tadeschi. She had leading roles in the movies “Black Sun” (2007), “Giulia Doesn’t Date at Night” (2009), and “Like the Wind” (2013). She starred in the Apple TV+ drama “The Morning Show” (2021) as well as a selection of different Italian series, including “In Treatment” (2013) and “The Lying Life of Adults” (2023). Her later movie career includes appearances in movies such as “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” (2019), “You Came Back” (2020), “The Beautiful Game” (2024), and “Maria” (2024), directed by Pablo Larrain.
