Marco Bellocchio landed on the scene with his debut movie, “Fists in the Pocket” (1965), a satirical drama that has since been recognized as a pivotal movie in Italian film history. The filmmaker went on to helm movies such as “A Leap in the Dark” (1980), “Henry IV” (1984), and “The Conviction” (1991), which won the Silver Bear Special Jury Prize at the 41st Berlin International Film Festival. Bellocchio’s movies “The Butterfly’s Dream” (1994) and “The Prince of Homburg” (1997) both entered the Cannes Film Festival, while his political drama film “Good Morning, Night” (2003) depicted the kidnapping of Italy’s former prime minister Aldo Moro. His other major movies include “Vincere” (2009), “Sweet Dreams” (2016), “The Traitor” (2019), and “Kidnapped” (2023). He co-wrote and directed the six-episode crime drama miniseries “Portobello” (2025) for HBO.
